Wild Life Trials
Most jape snakes live in the wilderness of Elsewhere. By wilderness, we mean anywhere, really, as long as they are not someone's pet. Some might live with their family until they are adult, while others might live in a jape clan. This training is for wild jape snakes.
You need to provide 2 prompts AND a lore image to finish an jape’s Life Trials. Lore image information can be found at the bottom of the page.
The lore image has to be done by the owner of the snake.
This training is required for breeding and certain quests.
Requirements for art:
-
Jape snake must be shown as full body.
-
Parent or guardian must be at least 50% visible unless otherwise mentioned.
-
Colors, shading, and background are required.
Requirements for literature:
-
1200 words
-
+700 words per trained snake.
I - Welcome to the World
Jape snakes are born as tiny-blind-screaming-spikeless-creatures. After some time though, its eyes will open and it will be able to finally meet its parents/the jape that cared for it. Maybe the screaming will finally stop?
-
Draw your jape meeting its parent/guardian for the first time as it opens its eyes for the first time. At this point, the jape does not have its spikes or horns yet. Did it keep on being a tiny nuisance for its parent for a while, or did the now visible glares disuade it from bothering its parents too much?
II - Acceptance
By nature, japes are scared of humans, or just humanoids in general. Therefore, a wild jape seeing a humanoid for the first time will most likely be scared of it. Sometimes, curiosity can push a jape to approach a humanoid village. Learning to coexist (or avoid) humanoids is an integral part of a jape's life.
-
Need to show at least one humanoid. How did both of them react to seeing one another?
-
Usually, humanoids are cautious of japes, as they are seen as large, highly inteligent predators. But, some more adventurous (or foolish...) may try to approach it. Think of it as if you came face to face with a very inteligent tiger.
III - How Impressive!
Every kid will do something and think it's the coolest thing ever, and will want to show it to its parents. Well, it's the same for jape snakes.
-
Show your jape snake showing something it learnt to its parent/guardians.
-
Examples : Climbing, drawing, hunting, etc.
IV - No, You Can't Survive on Rocks.
While Japes are mainly carnivorous, they can be found eating berries, fruits and other things to survive.
-
Show your jape being taught by a parent/guardian how to hunt OR what can and cannot be eaten.
-
Jape snakes can eat various other things than meat. This includes berries, fruits and vegetables/roots. While not a big part of the jape's diet, this plant training can also serve as training for medicial plants and their uses.
-
Oh, and japes can eat bugs. Do as you wish with this information.
V - Best Way to Learn is by Mistake
They say the best way to learn how to get up is by falling.
-
Show your jape snake being taught by its parent/guardian how to correct the mistake, or having the parent/guardian save the situation.
-
Examples : Stuck in a tree, annoying a little too much another jape, breaking something, etc.
VI - Nature is Scary
Depending on where the jape lives, the temperature and natural phenomena. In those times, it is better to hide and wait it out.
-
Show your jape snake hidding/trying to survive from natural phenomena.
-
Examples : Thunderstorm, sandstorm, flood, etc.
VII - Find Your Own Place
Upon reaching adulthood, a jape snake might decide to leave its family/clan in which it was raised to find its own place to call its own.
-
Show your jape snake joining a new clan/finding a place to call home.
-
Perhapse your jape is starting its own clan?
-
A parent/guardian is not requiered.
VIII - You Look Different
Jape snakes are used to only seeing their family/clan. So it comes as a surprise when they get out of the nest and come face to face with a jape it does not recognize for the first time.
-
Show your jape snake meeting another of its kind that isn't its parent or guardian for the first time. Did it go well, or did it end up as a fight? Was the jape scared or did it see it as a challenge?
IX - To the Wilderness I Go
Sadly, even if illegal, the poaching, catching or selling of wild jape snakes and their eggs on the black market is still rampant. It is a constant danger japes must be aware of when living in the wilderness.
-
Show your jape escaping poachers or hunters.
-
Can also be destroying a poacher's camp.
-
A parent/guardian is not requiered.

Lore Image
The lore image is kind of a "free card" prompt. The goal is to give you more freedom and the opportunity to develop your character. You will need to describe the context behind the piece in the description.
-
While a handler is not needed, it is highly recommanded, handlers are usually a huge part of tamed japes' lives.
